Feb 19th midweek miscellany

Our dear friend Jane Kinsey (formerly of the Vegas cast of "Hats"; That's Jane above on the left) sent out an email blast saying she'd be in town for a couple of days to pick up some things (she's moved back to L.A.), and would come to hang a while at the Bootlegger. That's maybe 4 minutes from our house, so I jumped over to see her. She sang, too. Awesome. The venerable Gus Mancuso (formerly of the Mary Kaye Trio) was on the piano, and his wife Maggie sang as well. They are the sweetest couple.

Interesting bit of history on Maggie from the R-J:
On the big screen, Maggie Mancuso's knowledge and instincts as a location scout have guided acclaimed filmmakers shooting in Las Vegas, from Martin Scorsese (1995's "Casino") to Tim Burton (1996's "Mars Attacks"), and Joel and Ethan Coen (2003's "Intolerable Cruelty").

On the small screen, however, Maggie Mancuso made her mark under another name: Maggie Peterson. Or, as millions of "Andy Griffith Show" fans know her, Charlene Darling -- the singing, dancing, Sheriff Andy-chasing daughter of a musical mountain clan...

'eh? Pretty cool.

Great evening. Jane, we miss ya. Maggie and Gus, great to meet you both.
