March 20th weekend update

First of all, my new issue of The New Yorker arrived in the mail yesterday. Full page back outside cover Banana Republic bleed ad below (click to enlarge):

Steve Martin gives "show business success" advice in his memoir "Born Standing Up" - "Be so good they can't ignore you." Case in point above: Esperanza Spaulding. Nice to see her meteoric success. One more time, below, her recent White House gig honoring Stevie Wonder.

One totally stunning young woman.

A NOTE FROM JERRY LOPEZ

"I just got this from one of my oldest and dearest friends. We grew up together in Santa Fe and have always stayed close. His sister Julie is a sweetheart, and I promised Pat that I would forward this to my friends that are close. Please forward it to people that you think can help. The stuff she has is really awesome and not jive. Nothing jive here in the people, the cause, or the merchandise. I personally vouch for it."
Hello all:

I need a few minutes of your time to ask you for your help.

My sister (Julie), youngest of five has stage four breast cancer. It has spread to all the bad places that it can and she more than likely will not live much longer. She was told two years ago that she had one to four years max and after all the initial treatments the cancer is back and spreading.

She has created two web sites in order to sell things that she makes. She makes everything herself by hand and posts them on one of the two sites. One of the sites are silver crafts and such and the other site has things that she knits. Any of you who have had a friend or someone in your family with an advanced stage of cancer knows how debilitating the treatment is and how tired the meds make you so I'm sure it is challenging for her to muster the energy to make the things she is selling.

Purchasing something from one of these sites will not only help her financially, but more important will help motivate her to keep making things to replace the inventory that is being sold and who knows. maybe buy her some additional time.

Thanks for listening...I am not asking nor would she ever ask for money, just consider purchasing something for a friend that just had a baby or for a daughter or a friend and please save the sites for future consideration. Most of the items are very inexpensive, it's the movement of the items from the site that matters.

This is a favor I will only ask once.

The web addresses for both sites are.

Thank you so much.
Your friend, Pat.

CORDLE-SCOTT HANG at JOKER'S WILD

Ahhh...the lovely RGB indoor/outdoor 150w floods, encased in what might as well be 1-gallon paint cans.

I love to support and promote all my homies, but forget getting any serious shots in this environment. Reminiscent of a 60's roadhouse gig in East Dubuque, Illinois.

Tried to get a few pics. Turn the Alpha 350 on "Night Vision," LOL!

Harvey Hughes on tubs tonight. Cat is solid. The band appears tomorrow night as well, starting at 8 pm.

LATEST NV UNEMPLOYMENT DATA JUST IN

Recall perhaps my last reference to the state of the local economy back on March 6th (scroll down in that post). Well, my little polynomial trend line was right on the money this time. We're now officially at 10.1% for February.

California bumped up to 10.5%. The Michigan data are not in yet (but will likely easily be above 12%; I'm gonna have to re-scale the Y-axis).
