Don't try this at home. These men are professionals!

Yikes! These Fat City Horns charts are gonna cause a toner shortage, in addition to mental hernias for those tryin' to read this stuff! 32nd note through-composed lines now, 'eh? Wow. The above is from an arrangement by the renowned Cocho Arbe (below, with Nathan) for a tune entitled "Love Somebody" for the new CD. The band held a rehearsal today at the UNLV recording studio to prep for Monday night's new live CD recording session show at The Palms (10:15 pm, be there!).

Gotta tell ya, it's a thrill to watch Jerry Lopez lead, whether onstage, in the studio, or in rehearsal. All-caps L-E-A-D-E-R, this cat.

The rehearsal was as good as witnessing a live gig. The guys are all business, but crackin' wise every step of the way. Maybe that's 'cuz Lenny was there, LOL.

Michito was there as well, as were both Johnson brothers, and Abe Lamarca. Tom Schuman (Spyro Gyra) also came by (below, with Jerry and Rochon).

A few more pics from the session:

SUNDAY, WEEKEND UPDATE

We bopped over to Lake Las Vegas last night for Ric and Jackie Gould's 97.1 The Point "Jazz on the Lake" show, this night featuring Rocky Gordon. A few pics:

Above, Ric invading my turf, LOL! Below, a few band shots. The light grid is a mess. Several of the parcans are not working, and the rest were not properly aimed at all. Rocky was playing in the dark. I gave up. Who's in charge of this stuff?

BTW- Ronnie Foster is gigging tonight at MJ's, Jones at Spring Mountain Rd, 9:30 p.m.
