Podcast No. 10 now up - JaRzone Scene 29

I've been way off doing other stuff for several months now (mostly reading/researching books and papers 'til my brain cells have about bled out), but here it is. A compilation of all of the mind-bending Jay Graydon guitar rides from the awesome "JaRzone Scene 29" CD he recently recorded and released with his friend and equally esteemed collaborator Randy Goodrum (these cats have their own train car load full of Grammys between them). This CD is crazy fine. For us guitar players, it's at once inspiring and humbling. Total Melodic Coherence. Not to mention chops out the wazoo.

Like I say on the podcast, it's a must-have. The songwriting, the musicianship and singing, the engineering production values, man, it just doesn't get any better than this.

CODA

One of the most famous guitar rides in all of pop music history, and interesting related stuff. The making of Steely Dan's "Peg."

Jay Graydon just waltzed into the studio after all these other heavy hitters and nailed it.

UPDATE: THURSDAY NIGHT HANG AT GVR

I was delighted to see our good friend and ace guitarist Steven Lee. He was subbing for Jimmy on guitar.

I continue to lament that his killer Steven Lee Group is not gigging. I totally love their CD. Below, Tony Davich on vocals and hamming for the lens.

Below, our homie Ron Camiri plays both percussion and brass.

Above, Bad Boy Skip Martin came to hang and sit in. Nice. Below...

Uhhh...OK...
